I've been sick for about a month now and about two weeks ago I went to the doctor and the mono test came back positive. Since then, I started to feel better and when I realized that I was pushing myself, I started to feel sick again (body aches, extreme fatigue, low fever) I have only had two sexual partners, both being my ex-boyfriends. With my first ex, I had unprotected sex one time, but, he did sleep with a girl that was known for being promiscuous around my high school and now that I am over analyzing everything, I am deathly afraid that he contracted HIV from her. The rest being protected. As for my last ex-boyfriend, we almost always had unprotected sex. Now looking back at it, the first time I made out with him he had a cold, then I caught it. Unfortunately, I am afraid that the "cold that turned into the flu" was my body's way of telling me that I contracted HIV, even tho my flu test was positive and I was given TAMIFLU. Yesterday, I went to Walgreens and purchased the Oraquick at home HIV test and it came back negative. The last time I had sex was almost a year ago. Is it possible that I have HIV or are these symptoms more likely related to mono, or is my hypochondria taking over?
hi madison, i can feel you. and i’ve been going exactly same as you tho mine was more riskier than yours and i had more symptoms as well including cold, i still do have stuffy nose for over one month. i just finished my first test after 3 month of exposure and it came out okay.
one thing i can tell you from my experience is over thinking and analyzing can definitely drive you through a worst situation, physically and mentally. you did test and came out negative thats a good thing. if you’re still worried than just go to clinic and do another test just for peace of your mind. and try not to think about it. you will be alright! stay safe!!
