If I tested negative at 31 days with a 4th generation test am I in the clear? Can I expect a negative test at 3 months? I’m still worried because I’ve had a persistent white tongue no matter what I do. Probiotics, brushing good, tongue scraper. Nothing helps. Also a red rash that is not painful on my penis head I’m assuming it’s thrush in the mouth and penis which is why I’m still worried. Hope someone can give me some advice.
What was your risk? 31 day 4th generation elisa test is conclusive, but if you had a risk it's a good idea to have another test just to peace your mind.
Dr. Hunter Hansfield suggested in one of his posts (expert on HIV) that the main test is antigen-antibody (4th generation), which appears that you tested with. This test can be positive as soon as 10-14 days after exposure and is almost always positive (96-98%) by 4 weeks (if you are positive). I believe that most doctors use 6 weeks for absolutely conclusive results and it is also what Dr. Hunter Hansfield suggested. I would test again in a few more weeks and also check guidance from your doctor.
It is highly possible that the white tongue could be a result of anxiety symptoms as well and not related to an HIV infection, or as you suggested a yeast infection since you also have a genital rash. Thrush is known to be a late stage HIV infection symptom for someone with a weakened immune system, so it does not correlate.
