I was diagnosed with urticaria at 17 (I am now 46) when i had what looked like large pizza size ringworm on my thighs, followed by swelling on my face. Mine doesn't look like nettle rash, its larger solid raised areas, and they're hot!
I know that physical pressure causes it, like digging, carrying heavy bags a long way. I also know aspirin and ibuporfen cause it.
I am also allergic to all non steroidal anti inflammatories and antihistamines.
Reading this thread has been interesting.
Red wine makes mine worse, as i tend to flush which makes my skin hotter.
The only cure I've found is 3 or 4 cans of lager.
At the moment I've had flu for a week, and as normal when run down, my lip and face is swollen, and my right underarm is red and hot. So, a few beers it is....
I am so glad I found this discussion to know I'm not alone! I have had large hives all over for 4 months. Funny thing is, the only thing that helps is red wine, just as so many here have said. My primary tested me for a million things and came up with nothing . I saw an allergist who diagnosed me with CIU, but explained it was very likely I would never discover the cause. I have been taking antihistamines and Pepcid which have done nothing for me. About a month ago, I took an at home food sensitivity test which showed I reacted to 29 foods. I cut them all out of my diet, and the hives improved a great deal, but did not disappear. Thinking this may have something to do with my gut health, I started taking a prebiotic/probiotic with digestive enzymes 5 days ago, and as of today, the hives have been GONE for 2 days. I'm not sure if it will last as it's only been 2 days, but thought I'd share in case this may help some of you.
please whats the name of the wine
I realize it's working for me too..
Happy to find relief.
Exactly..... They're tolerable now. So glad I stumbled across this
I have dealing with hives for 8 month following my Pfizer vaccine and noticed that although Zyrtec worked for a while until it stopped working , what i noticed also worked was
if i had a mixed drink with vodka, my hives would disappear easily...so when my Zyrtec doesn't work i try that route and it works until it wears off...
Wine is said to have an antibiotic quality to it, this is what i have heard. I do not believe its the wine that makes them disappear but effects of your state of mind while drinking the wine. Hives are based on mental state.
same thing hapoens with me. just came back from a long weekend at the beach and drank wine every night. Hives were gone the whole time. Came home and that night the hives came back. strange!!
