Hives

I seem to have hives with swelling every year for about three months tired of going to allergist.  Does anyone have any suggestions of any foods that make an outbreak worst?  I have been keeping a journal of my symptoms and food intake.  Any suggestions?

It’s most often an autoimmune thing so it may well be not just foods.

But some common triggers are alcohol, gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts, nuts, citrus, sulphites, salicylates, capsaicin (chilli), some food additives (e.g. benzoates, MSG etc...), seafood, some fish (especially cod). There’s cross allergies between some things (latex allergy can occur with banana or avocado allergy, tree pollen with some nuts).

An elimination diet or rotation diet for a limited time can help identify problem foods, if there are any.

Have you looked at environmental reasons. Most examples like the sun, heat, stress, anxiety etc. I tried the whole food diary and it didn’t work. I do get stomach problems so cutting out dairy helps that but don’t think it makes much difference to the hives. My dermatologist will say idiopathic urticaria and delayed pressure urticaria are not allergies. They have no reason why our bodies act this way and no cure unfortunately. It’s about managing it until it just decides to go away. I have found xolair injections have really helped. I’m having my 5th in a weeks time and this is the first summer so far I have got  through without looking like a lumpy puffer fish. I’m aware we are only in June so maybe hotter to come but I’m really pleased with the results. I have kept out of direct sunlight and try to keep myself cool, but before I was having the injections it made no difference. So I am seeing results and really think it’s worth a try.

Thanks for the information.  Unfourtanetly inorder for insurance to possibly think about paying for this shot my Allergist has to try all other alternatives first.  I do know that cold air conditioning and cool weather outside will bring them on drastically .  Also sometimes pressure on the skin will bring on swelling.  I have gotten some relief since my last post I changed up antihistamine and just started taking Zyrtec.  I also started drinking a lot of water to flush whatever is in my system out.  Its all trial and error at this point.  Eventually it will just go away.  Thanks Again!

That’s so unfair that they make us suffer in the meantime when there is relief out there. It’s all just down to money with insurance companies.

Try Cats Claw from any health shop they keep my hives at bay and have many health benefits too.

Also Burdock Root works as well and Blood Purifying tablets from Satveda, these are expensive though.

I do hope it works for you as it does for me.
