Holiday insurance after a cvt

Hi. my husband developed a cvt and was diagnosed last sept. It has been a long recovery and we are not quite there yet. We were considering having a holiday. We have got the ok from our GP for him to fly however I haven't yet looked at holiday insurance cover. Does anyone know how much this will be or can offer any advice regarding holidays.

Hi Sandra, Where is your husband at regarding recovery? I don't know much about holiday insurance, but my doctor didn't give me permission to fly more than a couple of hours until my clot was dissolved. Even then, it took about a year after that for her to give me permission. How long of a flight would you be looking at? The reason my doctor told me no more than a couple of hours was that I would be sitting too long and not have a chance to get up and move around.

Hi Sandra, I went on holiday about 9 months after diagnosis without problems. I asked our normal holiday insurance company and they quoted a significantly higher premium to cover the CVT.

I shopped around a bit with specialist higher risk insurers and got a choice of a number of insurance companies at a much more realistic premium.

So shop around and have a great holiday.

Hi. They found the clots in Sept 2015.They have said they had been there for some time and they may never go.he hasn't had a scan since them. The gp said not a too long flight and to wear pressure socks and good insurance.

Thankyou mike. Will shop around.
