Holiday

I've suffered with anxiety for around 3 years now and as I feel I'm slowly getting better I'm doing more things. I have just booked my first holiday with my friend (I'm 19 years old) and I feel so incredibly anxious about at already. I'm scared I'm not going to want to go or if I do I won't want to leave my hotel room which will ruin it for my friend, not sure what to do sad

I can only tell you from experience that I know how you feel and that it will all work out. I am sure that is NOT what you want to hear. I am totally learning new ways every day on how to live with my anxiety and it is starting to get much better. I have had it for about 4 or 5 ish years now and it runs in my family. When you get to the hotel listen to your favorite music or if you feel an anxiety attack coming on just talk with your friend about something you love talking about to take your mind off of it or splash cold water on your face. If that does not work tell your friend you are going to take a shower or a bath to relax for just a bit. I am sure if they are a good enough friend to go to a hotel with then they know about your anxiety so I am sure they are not going to get mad at you or anything if it starts to flair up. Just remember to breathe and stay calm and remember you are allowed to have fun. You deserve to enjoy this!!!! Keep yourself busy and if it will help ( I know they sound silly) do some breathing exercises! They really do help!!!! I know I was probably not a help at all but I just wanted to try. I really hope things go well!!!! I know you will have your friend there and I am a stranger but this site is to have more support and help so I am here for you if you need someone.I am open to you private messaging me if you need to.

If your friend is  unaware you get anxiety, tell the friend before the trip. Most are aware of it on some level and what it is these days. But should know. And plan on having fun, good times heal a lot. Dont drink too much thats a bad idea with anxiety.just saying. Discuss this with your friend now, makes it way easier and comforting for you.
