Holy Basil Leaf

hi

lots of people get IBS and its not always to do with progesterone ..

when your in peri menopause the hormones decline .. And oestrogen ...

many many symptoms along the way ...

jay x

you're right i have read the text again that was also my phone i meant to say magnesium lowers oestrogen which is what you had already written on a previous post as well yesterday i think. my apologies trying to multitask. as for the supplement that's why i said if she came off hrt. i understand your concern and i do try to see if it's early days if i'm trying something. I also appreciate that you have had more years into it now. But that doesn't mean we can't share ideas that's what the forum is for. it doesn't mean i have all the answers but it doesn't mean that you have either. We all have a say here.

true but again i was answering a question that i was asked. And for me that is how things go. I am trying to help people as you are.

Hi

yes we all have a say thats very true .. And that is what forum is for ..

but we have to give the right info ... As good as we can ... Sharing experiences is very helpful..

your post confused me, thought you were still on estrogen as that is what is said .. And magnesium was confusing..

hi

yes its good to try and help

maybe you could tell us how lomg you trial your supps for aswell ..

and the outcome... You mention so many ... But never say how long you have tried them ..

a week or two weeks is not long enough to make any assumptions ..

like HRT supplements take months to take effect and have to be constant and taken daily amd given time to work ..

i am not having a go.. Just like to understand what your saying

jay

ok well no harm done obviously just crossed wires appreciate everyone's input on this website it's valuable and it is important to bear in mind that what works for one may not work for another. that's ok we just help however we can. Thanks for clearing that up for me as well means that if anybody else was confused they now know what i meant. I also apologize if anybody was confused by what i wrote.

i understand.

Hi yes thanks for your time. Been in early meno probably over 2 years prior to being diagnosed. Symptoms fairly innocuous until recently. No hot flushes per se really but the HRT  did help my mood initially in Feb but not now in last 2 months so am struggling to justify being on it other than because of my age and osteo etc. Taking more and more vits and supps so may opt for the natural route though I am very scared my oestrogen will slump further and affect my mood. Very frustrated on best path to take right now. Any suggestions on regulating and encouraging production of hormones if I do opt out of HRT anybody? L

and also for clarity the only one i have said on this forum of late that has been of benefit to me is the holy basil. i do try to be quite careful in what i say actually. I know what it's like. so as i said before it's early days but so far i do like the holy basil in terms of the insomnia of perimenopause. its low cost and doesn't have any real side effects so maybe it will help somebody else. Maybe not but it's out there.

Hi kingliz

which hrt are you on hun

if you dont mind me asking

jay

Herbs i mean. Im paranoid what I'm saying now lol

Hi hun

no dont feel like that..

we all here to help each other ..

speak out, thats how we learn and help each other

jay

Ok cool x (:

hi king

its a difficult one to answer that .. ' any suggestions on regulating and encouraging production of hormones if you opt out of HRT '

as you know via natural route its allowing the hormones to decline as they want to in nature..

this is my experience here ...

mine declined over 9-10 years..

i used rain forest Maca alone in the very  beginning ...it was good for me..

i use alsorts now ... Trailed them for months .. I must say for me the Vit E is the newer addition and been on it a month and its helped alot with the increasing flushes that returned this summer ( i hadnt had one for years)

but live in southern spain and its been a roaster of a summer ..

a hot flush is the way we cool our bodies down in menopause ..

i had Gyno screening in August and was shown my ovaries all healthy .. But post Menopause now non functioning no follicles .. I am age 50 ..

my Gyno said if ...... I wanted Estriol Ovestin vaginal cream .. estriol is the kinder oestrogen .. Its vaginal and keeps dryness at bay, plumps your vaginal wall and keeps the skin from thinning inside ..

maybe you havent got to this stage 😕

i generally feel great, had the natural route a long haul, found  the right supplements, and feel great..

what you must think about is when you stop HRT you will go back in the peri again as your stopping the replaced hormones so bare that in mind ..

and know your HRT what they give you, how its made, where its from.

many are given Premarin and Prempak ... But docs fail to tell ladies this is pregnant mares urine ( horses) ummmm

i also use menapol plus x 2

some like black cohosh ... Its all what works for you personally...

i swear by B6 ... I take 150mg daily with out fail ..

Even the doc gave me that in early peri

Yes I have followed your advice also esp magnesium and busy b's. On Femosten 1/10 6 months and now 2/10 last 2 months see above. 2 years of tests showed in meno probably around 42 with no great symptoms. My sis did meno naturally and I am tempted now that HRT is not helping my current symptoms of insomnia and low mood which the dr thinks is due to an oestrogen slump. This started from when I forgot to bring my HRT on holiday in July or maybe was just coincidental but was fine until then.  My reply to rharris above explains. Have even tried a session of hynotherapy but this could prove expensive, to make me worry less and sleep more. Open to any solutions at all but it can get confusing. Wish meno was more structured than various for all women. Thanks for listening. L

Hi Kingliz

oh i so feel for you...

i will say insomnia has been a problem for me for 12 years..

when i saw my Gyno in August he actually spoke about this, asked me..

its the actual dropping off to sleep for me.. and staying asleep..

i must say i am terrible sleeper and a light sleeper and needed help..

oh and if i need to get up real early for a reason ... thats it i never sleep as fear being asleep when i need to get up ..

and stress or worries makes it even worse ..

i have Zoplicone for the dreadful nights.. thing is its not a good thing to take as people can become dependant ..

i take it as a last resort.. they are 7.5 mg ... this sounds crazy but i halve them and then halve again so just take 1/4 some nights ... it helps..

' oh thank goodness for pill cutters'

also to my amazement .. my Gyno gave me diazepam 😳 2.5mg.. i havent taken any, but they are they if the anxiety kicks in.. which since B6 150mg from April this year anxiety has gone ..

i wouldnt take zoplicone & diazepam .. blimey i would be iff my face ...☺️

his logic was if i felt restless and over anxious then just take a 2.5mg diazepam occassionally to relax me before bed.. but i havent used those ..

i live in Southern Spain Kingliz ... i am from UK originally but not seeking UK health Care ..

maybe you need some help with the sleep a little asistance like me from time to time ... for me i was so shattered i couldnt go on with no sleep any longer, but ... i use 1/4 zopiclone on occasion now, as my chelated magnesium and my magnesium spray oil before bed is quite a relaxant for me .. .. or maybe sleep is i proving now post menopause ..

i do feel for you - it makes bedtime a dread

It does. I am hoping to nip in bud as it has only been 2 months. Fingers crossed. Thanks. KL

I just took my first pill form this afternoon and medications scare me. I read about it as well on sites and saw so many helpful things it does. I am just not sure how much is too much or too little. I did well today on it. Gave me no worries but I have herd it can warm your body. I didn't get that. If anything I got more cold. which I rather have anyways. ^.^ I had menopause.

I just want to know what to look for as a bad effect. I herd 2 so far.

1* bad burps when taken alone(which I am okay with)

2* Lowers blood sugars. (I sometimes show Hypoglycemia because I never watch when I eat. I just would hate to end up in the ER from low blood sugar all because I took an herb to help with Anxities and depression and menopause symptom. )

So far after taking it and it is now Texas time 6:52pm I herd you should take 800mg and i took only 400 mg. They said also it might wear off after 6 hours. well I am now past that timing. I just wonder what is the best time and what are the best amounts. Also I use mag oil but have chelated mag which sometimes hurts my tummy. Ulcers seem to love living in my tummy, I had taken the chalated magnesium since 2013. Before that it was the other round pills which they say are bad on the tummy. Is why I am using the oil now. But every time I use the oil my left arm aches. Just in the upper o on another time just the lower part of the arm. But last two days I have had a ache in my lower rib and upper tummy on my right side.

Sorry I tend to ramble. ^.^ Well anyways just wanted to put my foot in the door so I might get an answer as well. Also to rcharris8 I also am an early menopause. I started in mine like my mother that was 35 at the time. I started threw mine at 35 as well. My sister had a partial Hysterectomy so she went threw it even sooner because of the surgery. I was told by my RP that I am now done. But other females tell me that you are never done. That we will deal with menopause symptoms our whole lives.

NOT FAIR! lol

anyways how long should a person be able to take Holy Basil for? It says not more than 6 monthes or weeks not sure might need to look that up again. But that worries me. could you enlighten me? Thanks to all that respond.

Hi love I took mine for about 6 weeks before it stopped working. However after a break I started to take it again and it was helping. It's never given me any real problems so I can't answer all of your questions but I must say I didn't notice any warnings about side effects with it as it tends to be pretty good. Sounds like you're being on a very conservative dose which is good. I take 800 milligrams a day when I use it. I found a combination of therapies with the best for me. One of the best things that help to me is the menogest cream which I still use everyday. Hope this is helpful and that you are doing ok.

Thanks ^.^
