Hello you wonderful people who take the time to support others. I have been home for a week now after my revision hip surgery. Reunited with my three granddaughters and my two fur babies.
First I want to say that the grabber gadget I use to reach for things without breaking the scary 90 degree rule has become my best friend. Except when I unwittingly leave it too far away to reach, then I need a second grabber in order to reach my grabber. Does my brain seem foggy? Pain killers.
My next thought is that the grabber has more uses than I ever dreamed! This is personal and I hope no one is offended, but I earned a high mark from my occupational therapist when I grabbed my razer with the grabber and completely shaved my surgery leg!
AWESOME! Perhaps I should buy three more grabbers because my children might then actually pick up their junk up off the floors.
Am finding myself to be very physically weak, but my in home physical therapy and occupational therapy begins this week so I should steadily regain my strength.
The no weight bearing restriction I have makes me hop, hop, and hippity hop and it is really tiresome. SO, I am going to check into renting a small scooter with a seat that swivels so it will be easy enough to sit down on it just so I will not accidentally bear weight on my surgery leg.
Then I can do some chores around the house. I never would have thought that something as small as picking up dirty laundry with my handy dandy grabber and tossing it into the washing machine could feel so exciting!
My pain level is so mild that if I could jump up in the air for joy, relief and hope. But alas, I can only hop my joy.
Nice one Dawn hope you get back full use of your legs soon, I have my PreOp on Thursday and hope to get one side done soon as possible as my range is really getting worse every week and it is getting harder to work and walk about at all.
There is light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully once this year is out I will be back to normal again. Keep well Ian.
Hi dawn glad you are home my grabber has also become my best friend my 10month old granddaughter now thinks I can make her soft toys fly through the air and dance ! Keep on truckin or is that scooting!!!!

Thank you Mary for your well wishes! Until now, I thought a grabber was nothing of importance. I will buy a few more for my Granddaughters whom I adopted and raise. Messy, messy they are!
So happy to hear that you are home Dawn and that your pain level is mild!!! I would never have thought to use my grabber to shave my legs!!! You just gave me an idea!! lol. I bet you are glad you are home. It sure has been a long road for you. I hope PT and OT will be helpful. I am glad you are feeling some better but now the work begins...Exersize! I can not imagine what you are feeling I have only been working at it 1 1/2 years to get help. Keep up the food work and Keep In Touch. You are my inspiration.
It took me 1 1/2 years to get help. It was discovering this site that turned me in the direction of rekindling hope. My first post on here came from a broken down person who wanted to give up on life if it meant suffering the excruciating pain that plagued me. I gained courage to obtain a second opinion from people on this site.
