Has anyone found any home remedies or over the counter medications that can be applied topically to an outbreak? I have a new outbreak that in an area that when I urinate it feels like I'm urinating on an open wound very painful it only lasts s few seconds but if I could avoid that feeling it would be great.
OTC acyclovir cream can hasten healing, potentially shortening the outbreak by a few days. It won't stop the stinging immediately, however. Covering the lesion in a barrier cream like Desitin or zinc oxide might help. That can also help the lesions to dry and heal a little faster.
Hydrogen Peroxide wiped over the area is what i've read. A couple of other people have had great results. Hope it works to help, can't say first hand myself as i've not tried it (but will at first sign).
