I have been having pain & gallstone type symptoms since having had my gallbladder removed at end of 2016 for over a year. I had multiple stones.
I have at last been diagnosed with definite sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. Am having an ERCP & sphincterotomy next week.

Hello dear, first of all what are your symptoms?? Have you gotten a second opinon? ERCP is a potentially fatal procedure even for the most experienced doctors. The risk of developing pancreatitis is high. Please make sure that you are careful in your choice and have exhausted all other options. There are other less dangerous procedures that can be done to check for billiary issues. I am not a doctor or a nurse, I have had gall bladder surgery and I have gastroparesis. My brother had sphincter of Oddi and they opened his bile duct. Luckily he was ok, but he saw one of the best surgeons in our state.
Hi there. I just want to tell you you will be fine. I had an ERCP and contracted acute pancreatitis. I was told by the surgeon it is a routine procedure. No mention of fatalities. Sure every surgery has its pro and cons. Rest assure that you will be ok. Oh by the way my pancreatitis is gone. Doing great now and life is good. Good Luck and may God Bless you.😎😎
Hi Moira I had an ercp it is a straight forward procedure, it’s very unlikely you will have complications I unfortunately did but I think it’s because the sedative made me so sick I ruptured where they had cut me and lost blood. But I’m fine and that’s the worse thing that could happen only about 0.5% of people bleed after so I was just incredibly unlucky and as I said I think I ruptured it being sick. I have since had my gallbladder removed I hope all went ok for you xx
