Hi everyone,
I've just started to use a hormonal cream on my vulva to see if my symptoms improve at all (redness/itching etc). The cream is estrogen and testosterone (biosynthetic) compounded into vaselline (which I use anyway so I know I'm not allergic to it or anything)
However it has been two applications in, and my vulva is swollen! It's not particularly painfull or red etc. (yet anyway)
Is this normal when starting this type of cream? How long should I expect these effects to last before I think about stopping the cream?
Thankyou,,
Amy
No that is not normal. Are you going thru menopause? My doctor has me on Estrace which helps but for the redness and burning he gave me Clobetasol for the outside which helps tremendously...apparently there is something in that cream that is irritating it more. I would stop using that and call your doctor and let him know. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Stacy,
No I'm not on menopause, I'm 21 years old and they're not realy sure what's wrong with me! I've tried clobetasol which didn't wor k for me unfortunately, I'm now on tacrolimus which has helped loads but it still gets worse around my period (hence why I'm now also trying hormone based treatments). Thanks for your response! Just to check - did you have any side-effects from the estrace?
No I didn't have any side effects at all on Estrace. Did they tell you what was wrong? I'm having similar problems but im goin thru menopause. It may be vaginitis or vulvodynia. Sometimes you have to self diagnose because these doctors dont know and they keep throwing medicines at you until one works...such a sad system we have.
