Horrible Experience

Well I have been putting off having my first smear for a good 6 months. The thought made me feel ill, finally booked it, spent the time leading up to it stressing myself out. Got there, had to wait 30mins, nearly walked out! The nurse was such a sweetheart and tried her best to calm me down but it was the most awful experience of my life! There was no blanket to cover the vital parts and a giant light shone straight up my*****. That was bad enough but then she couldnt find it. I dont think people realise how worrying and stressful this is when you have never had it done before.I cant even undress infront of people so having to lie there with nothing covering me for 10 mins while someone is fiddling down there is seriously stressful!

All in all I will def think twice about going again. I was hoping I would walk out thinking what was all the fuss about..... Im thinking the complete opposite!

Please dont take my experience for gospel as I have friends who have had no problems and wouldnt worry next time, guess Im just unlucky!

Good Luck Ladies -xxx-

i think that ten minutes of a little embarrassment is well worth it when you compare it too further complications and indeed cancer!

ive always been for my smear test bang on time and its a good job too. one i had 5 years ago showed abnormal cells which turned out to be a lot more sinister i had to have biopsy and laser treatment follwed that. the changes come in 3 stages depending on the severity of them i had CIN 1,2 and 3

wudnt like to think of what wud of happened i had put mine off six months

i agree its not very pleasant but tough i think its a life saver

It was this sort of thing written on the net that made me not go for 5 years!! Its nothing, just practice relaxing muscles. I dont think scaring people is any good, all it will do is stop people from going, and thats unfair.

tell you what ive had loads done and i have to say by far the best people to do it is the male nurses /doctors

it isnt that tramatic unless you wind your self up and are all tense the secret is to relax
