Horrible white and black patches on swollen tonsils, help!

Apologies for the disgusting photo. I'm just worried about my tonsils! I had the same problem a few months ago but it cleared within a few days and it didn't look so bad. My right tonsil is the worst and has white and black mouldy looking patches on it. My left tonsil has a few white patches. It's painful to swallow and I had a high temp a few days ago before getting this. Can't be bothered for doctors because it takes weeks for an appointment. Anyone know what this is or if its anything to worry about? Thanks.

This looks like nasty bacteria infection, if it is you need antibiotics, you need to go to doctor ASAP. This looks like it could spread to lungs if left untreated. Are u vaccinated against diphtheria"? No matter what, you must go see doctor before it gets worse, why suffer., they will take u in if its urgent.

I went to the doctors in the end, she didn’t seem to know what it was I have to go back again tomorrow because its gotten worse. I’m on antibiotics now for 7 days.

I think I was vaccinated against diphtheria when I was a kid but not 100% sure.
