Horrible withdrawal... when will it stop?!?

HI! I went on Setraline about 3 years ago for post partum depression. Always felt a little off when I was on it, so decided it was time to get off. My doc had me wean off from 100 mg to 50 for a week then 25 for a week then 0. After each reduction, I was dizzy and naseous for a day or two, but since I went down to 0 last Wednesday my symptoms are so bad. I am incredibly naseous, my head is out of it/dizzy almost all the time, I have horrible bowel problems, and my mood swings are insane.

Any experience with this? How long did it last? It's really difficult to function at work and home like this...

Hi. I know he's a doc, but that is a radical reduction in dosage. I went from 100 after 5 years down to zero. I reduced in increments of 25 mg in two week intervals. I still had brain zaps after about 2 weeks after going to zero. Mood swings are a symptom not a side effect of the drug. Of course I'm a guy and have never been pregnant, but we have had 6 and I thought I was going lose my wife a couple of times. Ask your doc about doing 25 mg for 2 weeks just to reduce withdrawal symptoms. Best wishes, Joe.

Yes I agree with joetherock, mouse have to be weaned off slowly. My side effects started after two weeks of going to zero. I have had constant brain zaps which even five weeks later are quite bad when I'm tired. I have read the side effects of withdrawal can last up to 12 weeks. Speak to your doctor about going back on 25 mg a day, which should stop the side effects almost immediately, and plan a more gradual weaning off from there.

I agree with the others that's a very yuck reduction I went so slowly when I came off the first time 50 to 25 for a month then 25 every other day for a month then every third day for a month. I never had any affects coming off this slowly.

I too got ppd about 4 years ago but only stayed on the meds for 5 months then weened off so hence hotly sick again and went back on.

Good luck with it hopefully the symptoms will ease up day by day

On this site is a forum called sertraline withdrawl does it ever go away.  You may find this helpful.   Many of us have suffered w.d. a LONG time.   I've been off nearly two years and still have bouts of nausea and loose bowels in the mornings.  i never had this prior to sertraline.

Really?! It lasts that long! Are you still dizzy or getting the brain zaps?

Do you know the link to that forum? I can't see to find it.

Thank you all for the feedback! Anyone had luck use natural supplements or detoxing to reduce the withdrawal symptoms?
