Im 6 mnths post op....

Horse riding... just gentle stuff... is it ok

I would check with Dr before starting anything new like that. My Dr pretty much told me I would have to take a pretty hard fall/hit to displace the prosthetic. Good luck!

I asked my surgeon if it was ok to go back to horse riding and if so at what stage? 

He has his own horses so has knowledge of this. He said not to try till at least a year has past and you have had enough time to strengthen the thigh muscles. The stronger you get them the better and less chance of dislocating while trying to get in the saddle. 

I would ask ask your surgeon. Your GP would not be able to answer this for you. You're surgeon may well want to see at what stage of healing you are at first.

Hi 

I too would like to know the answer to this and I guess you will get surgeons with differing opinions.  I would think that it would be OK if you were a rider before and took it easy and had a calm horse.
