I am 67 years old and still having several hot flushes every day, each proceeded by a feeling of malaise and sometimes dizziness. During the night I often get flush after flush in quick succession and am kept awake for hours. I finally came off HRT (gradually) three years ago. Over the years the doctor has tried several medications on me with no improvement at all. Will they ever go away?
I sympathise completely! I'm 63 and have been suffering from bad hot flushes and night-time sweats for 15 years. Also came off HRT, having been on it for a long time and doc advised that it was time to come off. Since then (April 2013) have been absolutely awful and, like you, cannot find any medication to help. Have worked through most supplements on the market and not found them any good either. If men had to endure this, something would have been done by now!
Hi ladies have you tried don-qui x pammy
Hi - I am 60 years old and appear to be in a similar situation. I took HRT for over 8 years to alleviate extreme hot flushes. I came off HRT over 18 months ago and am back to square one, with a vengeance! I have many hot flushes during the day (worse when the weather is hot) and lots of night sweats.
I suffer with palpitations just before a flush, which wakes me frequently during the night and feel slightly nauseous during each sweat. Consequently I get very little sleep and am often amazed that I can still function! At first I was prescribed Dixarit but the side-effects were awful, so had to stop taking them.
Any advice on what can be taken to give relief would be greatly appreciated.
