Hot painful face and ears-NOT a hot flash

Has anyone else experienced this? My face and ears will suddenly become hot, visibly red, and painful to touch. It lasts a couple hours and then dissipates as quickly as it occurred. It's not a hot flash. I have those and they happen quite differently. Those start out in my gut area, and slowly rise up making me shaky and hot-like low blood sugar. I start sweating and then get cold. With the hot face and ears, it's just hot and painful for a couple of hours.

hi there. I had this for almost an entire year. I don’t have it anymore and haven’t for a few years. For me it was nearly every day around 3 o’clock my face would get super hot and ears too although my face did not get red. It was very uncomfortable. Mine always went along with a migraine on one side of my head. I was still having regular periods then but was convinced it was hormonal but the doctors determined it was actually migraine related. Now I have irregular periods and hot flashes like you describe that start in stomach and sweating profusely for a few minutes but only between 4 and 7 AM. fun!
On a sidenote my oldest daughter when she was younger has seasonal allergies that actually presented as severe red and puffy ears and face especially along the jawline. It almost looked like she had a red beard and it was extremely painful and itchy. It was actually a form of hives and would come and go throughout the day. maybe try benedryl and see of it helps?

hi trinity - ever since i started on this menopausal journey, i have been plagued with intense flushing - i was diagnosed with rosacea at the start of my intense symptoms, but now i question whether its just all tied into the vasomotor system of hot flashes/flushes. i suffer from very bad hot flashes too & burning. i think my vascular system has gone haywire during this time & yes when i get bad facial flushing it is hot to the touch, hurts a bit & also makes me feel like i am on the edge of getting a migraine. i used to think it was allergy induced, but i can wake up with it after not eating anything for 12 hours. i am now convinced its just all menopause related, because if i get a bad flushing, the doxycycline i was prescribed for my rosacea doesnt even touch the redness on my face - i just think some woman suffer more from this than others -

Seems it may be tied to migraine/headaches for me as well. I did get a pretty wicked headache at one point when this was happening. I don’t think it was necessarily a migraine though. I’ve had a few of those, but this was just a freaky headache that made it feel like my eyeballs were being squeezed in a vice from behind my skull.
I’m convinced it’s completely hormonal/peri related, but wanted to know if anyone else had this happen as well.
Thanks!
