I finally got my cast taken off and put in a walking boot. still non weight bearing for a week and a half. My roomate and i got a hot tub and i called the doc and asked if im allowed to go in it and got the green light. Does anyone here know if a hot tub would be therapeutic for my ankle? ill be in a boot for 6 weeks and i feel like a hot tub could be of some sort of help
Yes, its therapeutic. It's generalized heat and it's good for circulation. If you're allowed to do exercises then do it after the hot tub.
Yes a hot tub will help loosen it up. Don't over do it though. I wouldn't stay in too long. Start doing the alphabet with your foot, circles and foot pumps as if you were stepping on a gas pedal while in the water. Do NOT bear weight any sooner than dr says. I'm week 16 after surgery and only have been bearing weight for 3 wks this Thursday. I do these same exercises in the tub but sure wish I had that hot tub of yours! 😁 Good luck and don't rush this process!
Thanks! Had surgery on June 27th. I'm allowed to start walking in a week and 3 days. I do my own therapy on it now currently, I have only have the boot on since last week, so I don't have much movement yet. Up and down movents are coming along but trying to turn my ankle in is the painful part... still have plenty of time to heal up! I feel like this hottub will work great. Thanks for the feedback
How long have you had a cast on and did you have surgery. I am going to the fracture clinic today to hopefully have it removed after 5 and half weeks. Nervous.
I was in a splint for two weeks post surgery. Then a cast for 5 weeks. I got it off a week early just because that was when my appointment was.. I'm sure you'll get it off today. Walking boot will be the next step for you
