I have had knee arthroscopies before and found the pain relatively low. 4 weeks off work and with my second was walking Spain on holiday after 4 weeks. I have been told that I can expect to be in a sling for 6 weeks. Has anybody had this op who can tell me what to expect as far as pain and recovery goes?
It really depends on which tendon and how much of it is torn and your age. Shoulders are very complicated and have 27 different muscles and tendons all working together. I suspect you have an imbalance in those muscles also. When one is damaged the others kick in and help out. Once the injured one is fixed you need to reset those muscles to function normally again. Our bodies are amazing!! My father had this same op and was good after some physio. Do your exercises and keep it moving afterward, if you can, this is very important to a quick recovery. Good Luck!!
Thanks Jane Sorry have just noticed your reply. It's good to hear about your father. That is what I thought and hoped for. Exercise and recover reasonably quickly without too much pain. I'm sure there are unused muscles due to restricted movement for a few years but I'm sure that will right itself Cheers
I have the same operation soon and interested in the recovery period etc ?
