Hello Just asking if anyone has ever been diagnosed with bph with a normal psa mine was at 0.69 and my urge to urinate Comes and goes sometimes gone for weeks then comes back.
Most of us.
If your "issues" are not related to cancer then BPH is the diagnosis and it doesn't necessarily trigger a high PSA. As you may know PSA is a poor marker for cancer anyway as it can be high after certain activities.
i am 52 and i have the same issue not having urge to pee only discomfort in body signals me to visit rest room . i consulted my urologist and he has no answer for it except that i have BPH problem even though i doubt it where my prostate size is 38 only . i sometimes wonder if it is BP problem low or high when i check it it is slightly low like 118/80. any suggestions plz why there is no urge to pee except body discomfort signals to visit rest room and then i pee.
I have a 125 gr prostate with a PSA of .7
ali509220, if your prostate size was "measured" by finger up your butt don't rely on that. My uro said mine was ~ 40gr a CT scan showed its 125gr
Your BP is not that low. Mine was 106/65 Dr. said as long as its not making problems don't worry about it.
According to www.Urologyhealth.org, BPH is:
...an enlarged prostate. The prostate goes through two main growth cycles during a man’s life. The first occurs early in puberty, when the prostate doubles in size. The second phase of growth starts around age 25 and goes on for most of the rest of a man's life. BPH most often occurs during this second growth phase.
As the prostate enlarges, it presses against the urethra. The bladder wall becomes thicker. One day, the bladder may weaken and lose the ability to empty fully, leaving some urine in the bladder. Narrowing of the urethra and urinary retention – being unable to empty the bladder fully – cause many of the problems of BPH.
BPH is benign. This means it is not cancer. It does not cause or lead to cancer. However, BPH and cancer can happen at the same time.
BPH is common. About half of all men between ages 51 and 60 have BPH. Up to 90% of men over age 80 have it.
Symptoms:
When the prostate is enlarged, it can bother or block the bladder. Needing to urinate often is a common symptom of BPH. This might be every 1 to 2 hours, mainly at night.
Other symptoms include:
Feeling that the bladder is full, even right after urinating Feeling that urinating "can't wait" A weak flow of urine Needing to stop and start urinating several times Trouble starting to urinate Trouble starting to urinate Needing to push or strain to urinate If BPH becomes severe, you might not be able to urinate at all. This is an emergency that must be treated right away.
after ultra sound it was 38 gram. my main concern is why i am not having urge of peeing instead having discomfort in body like having gas in the stomach which signaled me to go to rest room for peeing. the color of the urine is some times yellowish thick and some times normal having weak stream .
I thought I had BPH at 50 but a thorough urological exam indicated bladder spasms. My PSA was under 2. I was on bladder spasm meds for 20 years but BPH did develop in my early 60s. A TURP at 70 eliminated both problems.
Based on a telemedicine consult with a urologist, he said that I probably have BPH taking into account my symptoms. He was not able to examine me owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. My main symptoms are weakened urinary stream with some terminal dribbling and pain in my bladder AFTER I urinate which lasts for about 15 minutes then goes away. Does anyone else experience pain in the bladder after urinating? I went to the ER yesterday and my PSA is 0.94 and there was no urine infection.
hi what is your age?
