How can I prevent cancer at an early age

so, if anyone has read my posts, i have an EXTREME irrational fear of cancer, its been destroying my mental health for 2 1/2 years now. I am 22 and convinced myself I am going to get cancer at a young age. I am trying to fix my thinking, is there anything I can do NOW to prevent cancer in the possible future? I figure if i do everything I can now, it should help ease my worry. is there any foods I should be eating more of or any work outs that will help me out? i dont smoke, drink, or do drugs. i am at a normal weight, and i dont think i have any actual health issues, besides scoliosis. thank you in advance i hope this post makes sense.

I am sorry you are going through this and I know what it’s like when fear takes over our thinking. It can be very scary. There are several things you can do to lower your risk of getting cancer. But let me say first that the vast majority of people don’t get cancer when they’re young . I know that some still do and a common cause of that is heredity , like if someone in their immediate family had it at a young age but even that does not determine if a family member is going to get it. So the odds of you getting it young if you don’t have it in your family at a young age and also you being a healthy person are pretty low. It would be unusual. Having said that, somethings you can do are the following …

  1. eat a healthy diet. There a certain foods that actually help protect us from cancer and those would be the leafy green vegetables such as spinach, other foods that help fight cancer are broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower,. Basically most vegetables have those properties but the ones that are brightly colored are the best. Also, fruits are excellent for your overall health. The vast majority of people do not get enough fruits and vegetables in their diet.
    2.another thing that is very important is daily exercise. This will boost your immune system and make it stronger to fight against different types of viruses and bacteria‘s. Some doctors will say that exercise is the single most important thing you can do for your health. Even just 30 minutes a day several days a week is helpful.
    3.Stay hydrated! Most people are dehydrated and don’t even know it. When you stay hydrated it’s good for every organ in the body and it also helps flush out impurities. The best thing to drink is water and even better is filtered water.
    4.Wear Sunblock!!too many young people who stay out in the sun all day without sunblock are coming down with melanoma. They don’t think it can happen to them but it can! My dermatologist has seen this numerous times. Always wear sunblock on the face and any skin that is not covered.
    5.Our mental health is very important also. When we don’t feel good in that area it affects us physically and can lead to depression and no motivation. Stay active and social. It’s difficult to be social right now but always try to stay in touch with people over the phone or online, FaceTime etc. you can even play games online with people.
    6.Maintain The proper weight for your height and build. People who are overweight have a higher risk of developing diabetes.
    These are some examples of how to boost your immune system. I am sure there are other ways also but these are the ones that came to mind.
    The other thing is working on not allowing fear to run your life. If you worry today about tomorrow then you will have lost today .Believe me, it’s not worth it! I literally wasted years of my life worrying about what could happen. Nothing bad ever happened to my health and now I cannot get back one of those days that I wasted.
    remember, fearful thoughts are not based on logic or fact. They are just thoughts that blow away with the wind. Don’t get caught up in them.
    Live for today! Be grateful for what you have. Enjoy your life! Chances are you will live to a ripe old age. you are young and healthy and have a long life ahead of you. Take care :heart:
