I have always had anxitey but nothing i couldnt cope with but since the start of the year it has got worse turned in to panic attacks. I used to drink to cope with my stress but i have stopped drinking as i have a daughter and want to sort myself out, since i stopped drinking thats when i noticed my stress and anxitey getting worse and i have really bad mood swings. I have tryed 2 diffrent anti d's but felt they made me worse. I am away to try counclling and i have used rescue remedy herbal drops just to take the edge of when i need it, it does help but dont think its enough. Was wondering if anyone uses any herbal stress and anxitey tablets to help them cope with it and what they use? i know tablets just cover the problem but i really feel i need something as i dont drink anymore i think i need something else to help me deal with it when it gets bad or has anyone tryed prozac was thinking about asking my doc if i can try it? i would rather use something herbal though as i find it hard to cope with side affects from meds.
Hi i take magnesium,it's meant to be gd for anxiety-early days so can't tell but will stay with it.I tried prozac but hated it,i'm on sertraline which is supposed to have lesser side effects(still felt bad).A friend takes prozac with no side ffects what so ever !
I take prozac and have done a few times in the last few years and it's a godsend for me... Had a headache first few days but i feel well on it
How long were you on it for? did it take long to work? and once you stopped taken it did your anxitey come back ?
Let me know how you get on with my it. I was on sertraline for 3 days and couldnt cope with the side affects
In the past they have worked within a couple of weeks, this time taking a bit longer, been 4 weeks so far and just starting to cope better...it's taking a while because my anxiety was so bad this time and i put off going to the doc for too long! And i have never had any trouble weaning off them or going on them... They really do suit me, and thats unusual because i get side effects off most tablets. I usually stay on them for a few months at a time and then cope without them for a couple of years but i will not be coming off them too quickly this time as i feel my anxiety had got to a level worse than i have ever experienced.
Hi Nix.
I'm on Mirtazapine and like Tracie they are taking time to work. 4 weeks in and I'm far less scared or desperate than I was. I'm beginning to have ok days, nothing fantastic, just ok. I still have bad days but I guess it will take time to level out.
I tried Citalopram many years ago and it worked great for me. Tried it for 8 weeks with this episode and it didn't work so great so now I'm on the mirt.
Heard so many horror stories but you do with every medication. Not everything suits everybody. It's a matter of finding something that is right for you.
I would of preferred to get through this without medication but unfortunately I think it was too severe.
Dont suffer Hun. There is no shame in needing that help that medication offers. If you feel you need it,then go see your doctor.....You will also have his support and reassurance too and you would be amazed how that support feels on a bad day xxx
