Dear All
I was wondering about how to get diagnosed for Alzheimers.
Anna
My mom was diagnosed with MRI scan..........
First thing to do is to go to your or the persons GP and discuss your concerns. GP can do memory tests and refer patients for a CT or MRI scan and then to a memory clinic for more tests.
I have a related concern. I think my wife has been diagnosed. My wife says she is fine and has been given pills to slow her memory loss. The pills are Donepezil. How can I find out what is really the situation?
Donepezil is one of the drugs used to dementia. The only real way is to talk to her as Dr's can't break confidently. Sorry If that's not much help x
First step is to go see gp as they can do memory test and if they have concerns they will refer to memory clinic who will then do tests to see what if any conditions there is. Alzheimer's society website will have information or any of the other dementia charities x
Hi poet, donepezil is only given out for demetia, which to help her
you should read about the drug which has some good reports
starting on 5mg, then your body has to be given time to adjust
to side effects, headaches ets before moving up to 10mg tablet a day
taken late evening, but worth adjusting time tablet taken for best effect
a home visit usually comes after 4wks, but if you are struggling to
cope with side effects ask to stay on 5mg a day on try another drug
which will have side efects aswell,
what the NHS recommend you trying with any drug given, is to try
a vitamin type supplement called Souvenaid availble to order online
or through chemists expensive, but again good reports so far,
what really concerns me is people in their thirties suffering
memory loss through smoking pot etc,
you MUST notify DVLA who will contact NHS and a twelve month
review is set up, people are putting off being diagnosed for fear of
losing license, get checked out now MRI scan will give accurate
loss if any,
