I split up with my ex a few weeks ago but cant get him off my mind, I wanted to tell him how I felt about it all ( i wasn't perfect but he didnt help me much either) I got the courage to tell him and he told me to go f*** myself. Fair enough that pretty much proved that not being with him is a brilliant move. But I cant stop thinking that someone I thought loved me could say something like that to me. Did he even ever care about me? how do I just forget about him and move on?
Something in his mind obviously snapped for him to say such a thing to you,and only you and he knowswhat it is.
If you really think that he cared about you and you about him, then do you think it might have been just a lovers 'spat', or do you feel that the door has been closed forever.
If from your point of view you feel better-off without him, maybe what you are feeling now is just anger and a sense of injustice because you feel that you did not deserve to be treated that way?
It could also be that you feel that if anyone was going to break it up, then you should have been the one to have done it?
I believe that if you genuinely feel better-off now, then does it really matter who did what to whom, as you are free again?
It might take a while, but if the situation with him is irretrievable and you prefer it that way, then just walk away and thank your lucky stars that you did before it was too late to do so.
Splitting up on a long term relationship can feel like the death of a loved one. Even if you don't like them. Sentimental feels are powerful. It can take months or indeed years.
But if you don't get out of a bad relationship you are not ready for the good one.
I still think about my ex every day, I mentally thank them for the good times and for having the courage to break up with me.However my life is immeasurably better than I could imagine with my partner of 15 years.
It sounds like your treading the same path I trod. Wish your ex well, walk tall and look forward to all the good things.
We did have good times, but it would never have lasted. I guess I wish we didn't get so involved because in the end it just went so wrong
We had the petty arguments weeks ago, him saying that was well and truly the last thing, I dont want us to hate each other but he's never going to realise or acknowledge that he was part of the problem. I guess I just need to learn to accept that fact...
What can you do when somebody refuses to see your point of view, or accept they have any involvement in a crisis situation?
It must have felt to you that you were banging your head against a brick wall.
Well it's like this, you either wait for him to become more reasonable in time, or you say that you too have had enough and walk away.
Only you can make this decision.
I'm sorry it did not work out. I know you wish you didn't get so involved because the way it ended but you would have never known that unless you tried in the first place. Would you rather live a life in regret for the things you did do or for the things you didn't do. I know for me personally, most of my regrets are for the things I didn't do.
