For over a month I have been dealing with health anxiety over some health issues that my doctor can't quit figure out. Because the anxiety has gotten so bad I am getting anxiety rushes constantly especially if I see or hear the word tumor or cancer. I had this same problem two decades ago after having my gallbladder removed. Anyone know what natural ways to stop this? It took valium before but docs won't give that anymore.
hi Sarah…2 things!
- I completely understand what you’re talkin about when you say you can’t stand to hear tumor or cancer (YIKES, I don’t even like to type the words)! I always turn my head away from the tv when there’s an advertisement about it!!
- GET another doc!! there ARE doctors that do prescribe benzos ( especially psychiatrists) for people with anxiety disorders. You Really have to state your case and be your own advocate!
- DON’T let doctors intimidate you…they’re just human like we are (except with white coats!)
- awhile ago, I started calling my doctors by their 1st name…it helps make you feel less at their mercy!
- GOOD LUCK! keep me posted…
Thank you, Lynda! I will most likely need to see a Psychiatrist again. First doc I saw originally prescribed lexapro and when I told her I needed something for anxiety now not something that could take 2-4 weeks to work she lied to my face and claimed all anxiety drugs were combo now, that they did not make just drugs for anxiety like valium or ativan. I left her and the new doc gave me trazedone. Said to take it as needed for anxiety but I researched it and have found nowhere that it says it can be taken as needed to address just anxiety. Have you heard of that?
He won’t prescribe valium or ativan because he says they are addicting. I told him that two decades ago a psychiatrist had me take the lowest dose of valium daily for 12 months and I had no issue weanig off. He would not budge. I don’t want to go down the antidepressant path again because they were hell for me to wean off of and the psychiatrist had me try prozac, paxil, zoloft, and imipramine and NONE worked for anxiety. It wasn’t until she prescribed valium that the adrenalin rushes stopped and I felt human again.
The docs say I am making my health problems worse with anxiety the they should prescribe something to stop the anxiety ![]()
hi again Sarah…WOW!! you’ve really been getting the run around! What’s WRONG with these doctors?? I bet if it were their family members having such problems, they’d see things differently!
1st) Total lie they don’t make benzod…what a joke!
2) I took trazadone decades ago for insomnia. it didn’t work AT ALL and I had bad side effects from it (just didn’t feel right!)
3) all benzos (and pain meds) are addictive (so is sugar and shopping!)…it’s all up to you to not abuse them! if taken as prescribed, they’re Very effective! I’ve taken valium for years and have NO problem! rhe only danger is you can’t just quit cold turkey as that can be dangerous…if you’ve got a good doc, he/she works with you!..I’m convinced the trick is to walk into your appointment with confidence and your head held high. Afterall, you are there for a serious" legitimate reason!
4) antidepressants DO NOT help anxiety…don’t let them try and convince you so!
5) GOOD LUCK and please keep me posted!
