How do you measure the bend?

Ok another silly question. I see people mentioning their knee bend...86 or perhaps 92.... But how do you physically measure it? I look at the angle and reckon its about 90 so this morning with a huge set square I tried to prove it. All I succeeded in doing was slipping off the end of the bed and achieving another bruise to my already multicoloured backside. Is there some specific instrument for this????

Hi Martin,

The flexion (bend) and extension (straightening) of your leg is measured with a goniometer. You can pick one up for about 8 bucks. I also made one with a yard stick that is actually pretty accurate. I made it just for fun of course. What else do you do when your up all night long? haha

A goniometer! If my computer hadnt died on me yesterday i would try to get one on line! Cant cope on this little iphone though!! Thanks for the info

Hiya

I too wanted to measure my bend to keep track if my progress song bought a goniometer from amazon, £4.99 and does the trick :-)

Don't be offended by this Hugh. They just don't like any links on here that aren't run by this site

Lol, bit silly really! But Martin, I PM'd you!

Sorry but I have noticed quite a few innocent and helpful posts removed

hi ...I downloaded one to my ipad  from the iTunes store.theres a free app or one you pay a minimal amount for which is easier to use than the free one

Thanks when I get my computer back Illdo that!

Most people get their bend measured when they have physical therapy. The therapists like to keep a record of how we are progressing and that is the best tool they have for that. I tried a goniometer app on my phone but I couldn't get consistant results with it so I just let the therapist tell me where I am.
