How do you "try" antidepressants back to back until you find the one that works?

My doctor wants me to try antidepressants mainly for Generalized Anxiety but I'm don't understand how people "try them" especially since it apparently take between 4 to 6 weeks to take effect.

For instance, Effexor and Cymbalta are apparently very hard to stop, even if you take them for a very short time. So if you figure out after a few months it's not working, are you supposed to start the long taper process (many people apparently have to count beads to stop these SNRIs so it takes a very long time) until the antidepressant is out of your system before trying another one? Or you can just stop one and start another one right away?

Don’t bother with anti depressants from the doctor try using cbd eco drops with black seed   Its natural

I’ve just started using the advanced eco drops cbd eco have daily drops aswell I haven’t looked back since I’ve been using it. I was using prozak this time

Last year

Kambo. 🐸

Never heard of that.

How long does the effect last for anxiety?

How does it feel to take it?

Someone on this forum recently posted that they had a swab test to determine what medication is best suited to them. Maybe ask your Dr about this before trialling anything?

Hi Bobby,

You are absolutely right that cymbalta is notoriously difficult to come off (maybe effexor is the same) but you can safely switch between snri and ssri drugs without too much trouble. You can stop one and start the other with no gap as far as I remember. Often people coming off cymbalta for example switch to prozac to make the tapering easier if they suffer withdrawal. If you switch to a totally different class like MAOI then you will need most of the snri or ssri out of your system first. Sometimes you have to cross-taper decreasing the dose of the old one while you increase the new one. Your doctor will tell you how to do it as there should be guidelines for each switch available to them.

I take it before going to bed

Everyday I have a drop under the tongue

My doc put me on Cymbalta.  I could only take it for 2 weeks because it made me feel so bad.  I read about all the terrible withdrawals from it too.  I got switched straight to Celexa with absolutely no withdrawals, but now Celexa is not working for me.  So I’ll be going back to the doc soon.
