Hi Julia, I had a mirena in until a year ago when I asked for it to be removed as I had had one in for 9 years: I'm 55. I have not had a period since and have occasional hot flashes for which I take starflower oil and have hemp seed oil too. Everybody is different when it comes to the menopause. Even with the mirena in, I used to get hot especially during the night but I never had to change my bedding or night clothes. You may or may not have already been through the menopause, it's difficult to know especially with the coil in. Hot flashes are a good indication of whether you are going through it. Soya, starflower oil and hemp seed oil all help as they are high in GLA.
Hi Julia;it is hard to know, for as Caroline has said, all women go through Menopause differently, and at different ages. The only true indication is to have your Hormone levels checked by GP....this is the only way any of us can be certain (I was in same boat, as I had an hysterectomy at age 48), so just went with the symptoms for awhile, and then had hormone levels checked.....hope this sounds ok for you...when next having bloods taken, ask GP to include these others as well?....Bron
I could never work out whether the hot flushes were fibro related or not. Equally the brain fog menopause or fibro. In the end I decided it didn't matter what the cause was. Couldn't be bothered to go through another blood test to find out. I had sub total hysterectomy where just the uterus is removed leaving the ovaries so I have had no periods. Menopause just like fibro is individual as Bronwyn says only true way of knowing is a blood test.
