Hey guys just wondering what time frame people had before they could run again after ankle fractures.
i had a spiral fracture of my distal fibula and a ruptured sydesmosis. which i had a Orif for. my legs feeling good and i really wnt to get back to work. just hoping its not going to be too much longer Cheers.
Good luck with . I couldn't run before, do it would be a miracle if I ever could! Have you asked your Physio?
annoyingly i havnt started physio yet becuse they wanted to take my sydesmosis screws out first.( got them out a week ago.) sorry to hear that you cant run. im still hopeful im only 20 and could run quite well be fore it broke.
Hi . I have read articles on healing and Pysio. If you want to and enjoy running you should go to a physiotherapist that specialises in sport injuries. It seems like about three months. But it depends on how your injury heals and your Dr. Good luck with your recovery.
Hi, I would be very careful with running : high impact...just read a post , someone tried to start running 5 months post OPIF with negative consequences : sudden swelling, etc, Yes, sport injury specialist would know the answer...Good luck with your recovery
Had ORIF distal fibular fracture surgery 16 weeks ago. Started biking on a wind trainer at 6 weeks for 4 weeks of 1 hour a day to gain strength and stability in the ankle. Began walk-jogging on trails 6 weeks ago and the ankle is improving gradually. Now jogging 45 - 60 minutes a day on trails, not the roads. I am in my mid 50's and have been running/racing for 40 years. Before I started jogging 6 weeks ago, I was instructed to make sure the strength was near equal in both ankles on toe raise excercises.
