I've had cataract surgery in my left eye at the end of March (Clareon monofocal). 5 weeks later I already started noticing a decline in clarity / sharpness, which now got this bad that I can't see much detail (e.g. a face on TV appears featureless). Examination by an eye doctor concluded that the IOL appears alright/stable (though not sure if they can tell this just by slit-lamp and a computer refraction test?) but that there definitely is PCO. As I have RP, it is not too surprising to develop it this early. . I would like to have it fixed as soon as possible, what are the usual times you have to wait between Cataract surgery and YAG for it to be safe?
That is too bad that PCO has occurred so quickly. I am not sure there is a minimum time, but for sure I would expect you want the eye to be fully healed from the cataract surgery first.
Most sources on the internet say YAG should be done no sooner than 3 months after cataract surgery, though the doctor who confirmed my PCO (not my surgeon), told me, they wait 6 months usually.
.
Will have to make an appointment and ask the surgeon then. Would rather do it sooner than later, as my clarity is really really bad with the PCO and it would be a drag to have to wait 2 more months.
.
I only hope it’s just PCO and not some other complication).
