How long do warts stay white after applying the apple cider vinegar?

In an attempt to diagnose myself with genital warts, I tried applying apple cider vinegar this evening to see if my bumps turned white. They definitely changed colors. Possibly a pale white? I applied the vinegar and noticed a change of coloring after 60 seconds. However, 20 minutes later and the bumps were back to their usual skin tone color. I'm not sure what's normal in the vinegar test. Should it have stayed white or been MORE white? Should it have changed coloring so quickly. I read it would take 10-15 minutes. Has anyone else done this test? How did it go for you?

Dear annie,
The vinegar test to identify genital warts is unreliable- it can be falsely positive in many instances where HPV infection is absent.
If you’ve already been vaccinated with Gardasil (HPV vaccine), then genital warts would be very unlikely.
Suggest you post photo/s of the suspicious lumps/bumps; if you prefer not to, then I suggest you try to see your doctor.

I posted a picture on a separate thread before this one. I received feedback that it would most likely be warts. My doctor couldn’t see me for 4 weeks so I was trying to get a general idea of what was most likely going on.

I forgot to mention, I have never had the Gardasil vaccine. I am in my late 30’s and it wasn’t available. Here is the image from my other post. .

hi. yes they are definitely genital warts. go to the sexual health clinic usually they will treat them there. X

definetly genital warts, the good news is that the hpv strains that cause warts aren’t dangerous, see your doctor as soon as possible so he can give you treatment or burn them off.

Hi annie,

Thanks for posting the photo which shows multiple genital warts. Not sure where you live but if getting to your GP is difficult, you can still order STD tests online in the UK (Google: UK STD online testing). In terms of treatments, suitable preparations would be either podophyllotoxin (either as Warticon cream or Condyline solution) or imiquimod (Aldara). These can be obtained from online pharmacists if your local STD/GU clinic/sexual health clinic is closed because of COVID-19.

Thanks. I started applying the apple cider vinegar once a day for the past 2 days and have already noticed a significant change in size. So I am going to keep doing that until my appointment in 3 weeks as long as everything keeps subsiding and not getting worse.

Don’t they just come back?!

they might not come back, if they do they just might be a few in different places, after 1-2 years your body should eliminate the infection and the warts should be gone.

apple cider is flogging a dead horse, you are more likely to continue to spread the warts than actually treat them doing that old myth, you need to see a sexual health clinic asap and have them all removed by cryotherapy or cryosurgery. all the best

update**

After applying apple cider vinegar on the bumps for 3 days straight they are mostly all gone. I was able to secure an earlier appointment with the doctor and she is seeing my on Wednesday-July 22. But I’m worried she won’t have any bumps to diagnose. I’m assuming an HPV test would still be enough to say whether this was warts or not?

Also my ex that I was with told me has zero symptoms and has accused me of cheating around on him. I haven’t. Can he have the virus and not have genital warts even if I do??? Him and I slept together off an on for about 18 months.

men or women can have the virus for years until developing any symptoms.

how are you applying the apple cider vinegar and how long for.

also, there are ZERO reliable tests for men (unless they have a visual sign). Your ex needs to get himself educated.
