This is currently my second known OB and the only time I have had to take the medication for it (Valacyclovir). My prescription says to take 1 pill, twice a day for 3 days. I am on day 2. Though i have a mild case of it and i am able to deal with it daily without medication, i am just wondering how long it will take to actually go away/feel relief...

It can vary. In most cases symptoms will usually clear up within 5-10 days. If your symptoms persist then your doctor may decide to extend your course, depending on the treatment you are using. In the meantime, try to get some rest and make sure you don't get too tired, as the weaker your immune system is, the harder it will be for the body to recover.

I noticed by day 2 1/2-3 after taking the meds, i felt alot better. I have a mild case anyways so it wasnt too much of a burden but its good to know the medication works pretty fast.
How long does the primary outbreak take to feel relief then? I'm in agony and I can't believe this is all happening to me over Christmas break Just started my antivirals yesterday, my doctor said to take 5 pills the first two days and 3 the rest of the bottle. This will only be my second day but it will be my fourth day with the lesions and I'm in pain
My friend outbreak was very mild and I didn't take anything. My second one felt better on about day 3 but I have a mild case of it anyways .. My medication was 2 pills, twice a day for 3 days... Tomorrow should start to feel better I would think
