How long for thyroxine tablets to work?

hi everyone just wondered how long it takes for thyroxine tablets to work, I started on 50 mg a week ago after having very borderline thyroid result, does anyone get upper back muscle aches and also in Arms? Iv just been for more blood tests for vitamin D levels plus BLS and TFH whatever those are, my doctor said thyroid disorders don't cause muscle pain, and if my vitamin D levels come back fine she is assuming Fibromyalgia as well. they supose to work for life i been on them had no problems

Hi Donna, I am also on 50 mcg thyroxine. It does take some time for it to work. I noticed on my depression it worked right away. The muscle aches and pains came a little later. I've been on thyroxine for about 16 months now. I did have my Vitamin D checked and it was extremely low. My number was like 11. I was put on large doses of vit D for 12 weeks and now I take 2000iu per day. But I still have joint and muscle pain. We're all different so medication affects each one of us differently. But low vitamin D and muscle aches and pains seem to go along with this condition for me. Took me a few months to see my TSH drop to a more normal number. Hope you don't have Fibro. Give it some time and I wouldn't be surprised if you had Vit D low levels. But I'm not a Doc so hang in there until test comes back. Some GP's don't know much about hypothyroidism.

Thyroid problems do cause muscle and tendon problems, called myopathies. There is a specific test for fbromyalgia - there are some sites on You Tube which demonstrate it. I understand Levothyroxine can take up to two months to work.
