in order to try to get my persistant pain down down after a spinal fracture (L1 compression fracture and broken facet joint at T12, 11 months ago), i had a first nerve ablation at T12, L1 and L2 left side on June 8th. Meanwhile, locally, the pain is better, but I still have a lot of pain in the iliac area (I felt that particular pain when they put the needle at the T12. On July 3rd I had the right side done, but don't feel better there. Still lots of burning pain.
How long does it take for a nerve ablation to 'heal'?
I can get through an active day (like attending a wedding) by taking paracetamol, tramadol, ibuprofen, aspirine all at once, twice. And using a diclofenac suppository the evening before and after, with a muscle relaxer. I then need to recuperate 2 days. Needless to say my lower back is killing me... That area around the venus dimples gets so sore after being active for about 2 hours.
So sorry to hear of your constant pain. Have you sought another opinion or other avenues for relief? I have recently had extensive back surgery following a move to another state and becoming painful to walk. Am recuperating nicely but slowly (senior citizen). Don't give up. Seek as much information as you can. My first back surgery was the result of a ruptured disc and burning pain down my leg, so I can identify with your pain. Hang in there and take one day at a time.
Surgery is the ultimate, last thing he wants to do. In fact, the orthopedist, fired now, didn't treat me right. When I had the accident, he should have operated on me within 2 weeks after the fall when the pain wasn't decreasing. Now, the fractures are mended, things are all different.
I've planned to get another opinion, but the neurosurgeon I'm seeing now is one of the best...
