How long until Sertraline works fully.

I have been on Sertraline for 9 weeks. I take 50 mg. it has been prescribed for IBS and anxiety. It is working as I'm generally brighter and less bothered about things, but I'm becoming impatient with the drug. Is it normal to still get bouts of nausea, and also I'm still very tired. I'm addition to that in the mornings I wake up at 5 am feeling very jittery and can't go back to sleep. Thus does wear off when I get up. I'm not really sure what to expect at thus stage, is it still early days??

I have been on it now for just over 10 wks,n I can hon say that I don't feel great after all thi time being on it.

Hi Cheryl, i've been on Sertraline myself for 3 weeks now and also work in a pharmacy, so i've been doing lots of research on this medication. Sorry to hear that you've haven't been sleeping well etc. I've found that lots of sources have said that it's around the 8 week mark that the full benefits of this medication are felt. Although I guess it depends on the individual, as I myself haven't had the side effects you've been experiencing. I would stick with it for a a bit longer, as I do think it is still early days. If it really isn't agreeing with you after this time I would suggest going back to your doctor.

I am on another sert forum,n a lady said it took her 6 mths for her to feel the full benefits of it,I've never know a anti d to take so long.
