How many have had post menopausal bleeding?

I'm new,,, I just joined tonight because I started bleeding after 2 years without... I was panicking then I found this site... I've been reading on here for the past 3 hours and discovered that even though we've been told post menopausal bleeding is "abnormal" it's actually not as "abnormal" as suggested... yes it needs looked into but if you talk to women and read about them it's actually quite common... and oddly reassuring... part of me feels bad that y'all are going through it but part of me is glad I'm not the only one... misery loves company I guess... sorry... anyhow I really am curious as to who all has had this post menopausal bleeding and what the process is after seeing a dr... do they immediately discuss the big C... it actually might depend on the dr too I guess... Love This Site btw! saved me from a Major panic attack!

I’m 4 years post meno and had a bleed last year and again this year. If you’re in the UK standard procedure is to be seen within 2 weeks for ultrasound and TV ultrasound and if thickening of lining / polyps/ fibroids suspected they do hysteroscopy and biopsy either by the gyny there and then or under general anesthetic within a week or two. It is classed as abnormal bleeding and every bleed you have post meno needs looking into but it is common. Try not to worry and please see your GP.

Thank you, I will be calling the dr Monday morning… I’m in the U.S. and usually it takes weeks to get into a gyn dr unfortunately…

It is worth contacting your Gyn and speak to a nurse. I am in the US and at least for me we don’t get to speak to doctors, but have to get a call back from a nurse who is the go between with the Drs. Anyway, I had scant pink and brown tinged bleed this past week. I called my Gyn office on Wednesday for an appt told them why and she patched me through to the nurses voicemail, they called me in an hour. My GYN had the day off of course but the nurse consulted another Gyn in the practice and she recommended an tv ultrasound (though I had just had one the month before because of uterine and ovary pain). I had an appt the next day. Which floored me because it normally takes at least a month for any appt there. TVA was normal. Thin lining. Usual fibroid that hasn’t grown, cyst on ovaries that Gyn says are from long ago ovulation. I am 51 and post menopause 2 year in Oct. After this TV ultrasound I then had a pelvic from my GYN and for me it turns out I had a yeast infection (no symptoms) that my GYN says can cause cervical irritation and a little bleeding. Ok, I don’t know but my particular bleeding stopped after two days and was very light. I still have ovary pain. That my gyn says the cyst wouldn’t cause. I had a CA125 blood antigen test to check for ovarian cancer last month. It came back normal. If you look back a few pages on this site there is the same question like you posted from someone 5 years ago and so very many women responded with the same issue. It can be caused by hormone (estrogen) surge. But it should ALWAYS be checked out just to be sure. My GYN never mentioned the big C, but you know it’s always on all our minds. I never google my symptoms anymore. I joke and say after googling symptoms. “What, I have prostate cancer??” That is how helpful google is.
So I still get twinge/ache in my ovaries and especially since my below stairs exploration at the Gyn office this past week I had irritation and uterine cramping. But to be honest I am one giant pain. Teeth pain , skipping heartbeat even after my magnesium now. Constant pains that move around my body. It all causes me poor sleep which messes with my disposition and it all makes it hard to function on a human level. At postmenopause after so many years of the all of the menopause bs prior to post, I just give up. So when I notice a bit of blood in my underwear and then when I wiped, It felt like just the icing on my crappy cake life. lol
Anyway Gyn gave script for a one dose pill for yeast infection. I didn’t have any itching until I went to the GYN’s and the lovely bunch of lubricant they use apparently irritated my vaginal area. I haven’t had any more bleeding, but it does feel like a tiny person is stabbing me with an ice pick in my left ovary area at times. Which is alway disconcerting, depressing and adds to the fun that has become my life.
Oh and of course I am probably the only one that feel like I am going to break wind when they stick a speculum in and spread it. Ugh my GYN thought she cause me pain when I clenched up. I didn’t disabuse her of that notion because I didn’t want to tell her the truth. lol.
I know that many women have had post menopausal bleeds, some more severe than others but from what I read they all get it checked out. I recommend that too get it checked out.
