How quickly do bulging eyes develop in graves eye disease?

Hi everybody,

I am a 22 yr old male diagnosed with Graves’ thyroid disease one week ago. I have normal TSH and FT4 levels despite having hyperthyroid symptoms (ie sweating, muscle fatigue, heart beat over 90, losing eight pounds despite gorging myself). However, my TSI was positive and hence the diagnosis.  Recently my eyes have been feeling like there is pressure behind them especially my right eye and I am becoming increasingly sensitive to light. I just want to know how quickly the bulging eyes can develop to where it is apparent to others. I am graduating in three months and would love for it to hold off until after I do so.

Hi

You will feel pressure behind the eyes and have sensitivity, graves disease effects the muscles and tissue there . I had trouble seeing at one point, however i never had bulging eyes. It usually happens when you are not treated in time i believe. It will settle down. X

Start taking selenium 200 mcg. This was highly recommended by my endo and ophthalmologists at a well-known teaching hospital. My Graves wasn't treated on time and I developed the bulging. It all got better after I had a thyroidectomy. Also, take lots of omega and L-Carnitine.
