Lyrica is not even touching the pain , have tried heat , ice , otc drugs to no avail , called to get into my Doc and was told i could have an appt in the new year ... said no i need one sooner ..... so they gave me Dec 13 th .....OMG ...... seriously what else can I do to get relief . any suggestions are very welcome
Hi TracyV, you should get a different prescription. I use two together, gabapenton and oxcarbazepine. Have your doctor try you on something different. Let me know if you try something different and if it helps. I pray you get relief soon!
Hi,
Several Forum members would advise you to attend your nearest accident and emergency department. I agree. Once there you will be given appropriate pain relief, it may only help for the time that you are there but (depending where you live) your GP will get a report or will at least be able to access the report. This, hopefully, will enable him/her to see just how bad your pain and situation are, it may give him/her the impetus to see you sooner and sort out some more appropriate treatment.
Best wishes.
I tried Lyrica for my TN, and it might as well have been sugar pills. Of course you'll want to speak to a doctor, but carbamazepine is the most commonly prescribed medication for TN. It worked for me for years. Eventually, the meds likely stop working well enough, and other treatment options will need to be considered.
Thank you all for the responses I wil definately try my local ER and see if they can offer me some pain relief maybe they can refer me to pain specialist that might help,,,,, heres to hoping for some much needed relief from all these shocks I am feeling
If you can't see your neurologist, go to your GP and get an anti-seizure med. I'm taking medium size doses of Carbemazapam (Tegretol) and gabapentin. They're both anti-seizure, or anti-convulsant. I'm also taking a muscle relaxer. This 'cocktail' seems to be working for me, but everybody's different! I unfortunately am getting to be an old pro at this miserable s--t!
