Hi all
I have osteoarthritis but due to not been in pain, consultant holding off on a hip replacement.
If I sit down for a while I get up and am incredibly stiff - my right hip is worse than my left hip. It takes a while for me to get me right leg completely straight. Its sore when I’m trying to straighten my leg. So I’m walking with a limp for a while - ass stuck out behind. I find that this is now hurting my back since I walk bent over for a while every time I get up from sitting down. I’m in an office job where I sit down all day. Any tips on how I straighten up quicker to avoid back problems.
Thanks for any info
How long is sit for a while? I would be inclined to try standing and stretching periodically.
Possibly see a physiotherapist and get some exercises to help.
Try aquatherapy
Try standing and getting yourself straight before walking
Have you had problems with your back? I too have hip OA and the ffirst thing out of the doctor’s mouth was hip replacement. After watching the surgery on YouTube…no way. Went to physical therapy. All the difference in the world. I also have back problems and when I canot get moving easily the back exercises work. Just because you have hip OA does not mean that is where your problems are ororiginating from. Hip problems cause major pain. Be well
i had a local physio guy ( here in Antigua ) and he suggested I was nowhere near bad enough for thr, although walking hurt bad , the xray showed not much gasket left , and i was off tennis,. Six months later I went ahead anyway. By then it was bone on bone. In my case at least I should have done it 18 months earlier. Its almost like a new life as far as being active again and my morale. I didnt realize how much the constant ache sapped my energy and will to do stuff.
and i had been off tennis for six months.
A while would be several hours. Sitting in front of a computer at work! I do get up every hour or so but I’m getting to the point now where I dread getting up as that is the only time I’m sore and I feel old!!
I’m starting physio classes next week that are for people with arthritis - so hoping that will help.
No - never had back problems ever. You were brave - watching youtube - not a chance I’ll ever do that!!
My doc says he will do the op before it gets bone on bone. I saw my sis go through the pain with that scenario and I have no intention of repeating that. Great to hear that you feeling a lot better. I love gardening but feel get tired and sore a lot quicker than I used to and I’m not that old!
Great to hear some positive results. Good for you!!!
