How to handle need for bathroom.

I have managed to keep my stool soft enough to pass without much pain BUT sometimes it's too soft causing urgency to go. As you can imagine this can be a problem. Has anyone else experienced this? How do you handle it?

which stool softeners are you taking and how much?

Hi I take 150 mg of magnesium citrate nightly and about every 3rd night I take a stool softener that is comprised of senna, casera, licorice, juniper and oil of peppermint. I take this about every 2-3 nights otherwise my stool is too hard to pass. I won’t take a chance on getting another fissure as mine took 3 + years to heal.

hi, thanks for replying back. whats the name of the mag? and the name of the stool softeners please?
any tips for healing a fissure?
how did you heal yours?
i have had my fissure for a year, still wont heal. they are hard to heal

Hi

I’m in Canada so not sure you can get the same products. I use Webber Naturals Magnesium Citrate and Nature’s Harmony stool softener. I had no surgery for my fissure. At its worse I seriously considered it but opted not to as it has a slight chance of causing fecal incontinence. Here’s what I did:
-avoid hard stools at all costs, magnesium really helps
-drink lots of water
-shower head right up into the area to clean well
-anti inflammatory pain killers
-avoid spicy food or food with seeds or sharp bits like popcorn
-don’t overeat as to cause too much work for your bowels but you have to eat to keep them working. Hard I know but I’ve lost 40 lbs. in past 3 years which I needed to so not so bad
-0.2% nitroglycerin cream by perscription
