How to take Biotics

For anyone who is thinking they need to take at least one course of probiotics do choose the right ones and do make sure you eat the right foods and stop eating the wrong foods so that it actualy works.

thank you carmel...that is so helpful...we do need to get this right.

so we need the pre-biotics to help feed the re-establishing good guys...so that's unsweetened veg...i'm thinking grated carrot salad with garlic vinegrette ..and if buying yog then its unsweetened full fat plain yoghurt. Also fermented veg eg sauerkraut...challenging.... and kefir...i do a yummy coconut one.

keep in touch carmel lets urge each other on xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Marey. A l ot of peiople go through the motions of taking biotics and it is pointless if not done right - and a waste of a lot of money.

Some vegetables have some sugar in. It is also best to stick to vegetables and fruit that are alkaline rather than acid, or at least low acid.

And yes fermented veg are great, so is kefir, I am looking into making my own so maybe you can advise me on that. Have made my own yoghurt with sucess but that is probably much easier.

hi..this is great! Glad you like fermented veg... i find them challenging.

Well the kefir i'm making at the mo is still using cow's milk starter from full fat, plain, organic yoghurt....but I'd like to find a starter thats dairy free...i did buy some in but it didn't really work ..was disappointed.

ok well i put 400mg soap sized pack of creamed coconut in a blender, cover with 800 - 1000ml of boiling water....then while cooling prepare the jam jars/ mason jars by filling with more boiling water to sterilise but you don 't have to worry about that too much...we want to encourage bacteria!! when the milk has cooled or before so i can wash out the blender I pour the coconut milk into the jars and allow to cool to blood heat,  add tblsp yog...or some culture from an earlier batch (generally will have eaten it all....yum!) and stir with the handle of a wooden spoon...very important to use either a wooden or plastic implement and leave in the oven with the light on....overnight and for a couple of days more to make really tangy! with lids only loosely on...supposed to store in fridge when done...but i love eating it raw and runny whilst still warm!!!!!!!!!!!

At last a kindred spirit. Someone who is knowledgeable and pro active.

Thanks for the info. I understand there are loads of different bacterias that can be in the gut and one of the oproblems is that we have clean houses and keep washing where if we were a bit more mucky we would get more resistant naturally. The other is the antibiotics wiping out our good flora as well as the bad and then people assuming that becuase the doctor suggests it he must be right, when he knows nothing at all about diet or gut flora, which are the same thing in essence.

exactly carmel. there's a whole science about it now. the vicinity we inhabit is caled our biome and we need to keep our bacterial buddies happy around us. I'm very good at grubby!!! but my daughter who can be quite relaxed mostly...periodically attacks things with anti bacterial wipes and sprays and bombs me out with perfumed junk!!

Any ideas to help discourage this? She just doesn't listen...cos her freiends have told her to do this...fatal!

how relaxed are your family members about keeping the bugs araound? or do you live alone? I normally do but am staying with my daughter at the mo...in what was my house and i'm renting elsewhere...but there's work to be done on the house so i'm back and paying attention to it.

what are you up to in your life. what are your health issues and your hobbies?

Lived alone and it is up to me, but relaxed about it anyway as life is too short. Best to writeto each olther privately if going into more, dont like to put it about for everyone to see. Drop me a private mesage if you like.
