I am moving to Sertraline and I want to taper off my Mirtazapine that I have been taking for 3 years. I successfully reduced my dosage from 30mg to 15mg a year and a half ago.
How does one taper by 10% a month for example.
I can’t get pills smaller than 15mg and I want to make sure I am getting the right dose. Do I crush them and then put in water?

hello, as you are moving from one anti depressant to another, you dont have to do the taper anywhere near as long as if you were coming off anti depressants completely. your dr or pysc will give you a suggested switch. some stop the old one completely, then start the new one the next day. most get you to reduce mirt to 7.5mg (split one in half) for 2 weeks, and at same time start half of your itended sert dose for those 2 weeks. after 2 weeks, youd stop mirt altogether, and increase sert to intended dose. your dr might even leave you on 7.5mg for some time, while taking lower dose of sert, ie you take both for a while. there are no hard and fast rules, it depends on what your dr says. just follow their advice.
