My test came back negative for HIV but if you have aids will the test even pick up HIV?
yes.. in aids you get picked for hiv.. what determines that you are in the aids level is the viral load

If you are HIV -ve (negative) you can not develop AIDS, and sorry to disagree with Vida but viral load alone does not give an Aids diagnosis, it has to be in conjunction with an Aids defining condition such as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. I will not list the other conditions as you do not have the Human deficiency virus and therefore impossible to have Aids.

Hello inlifehealth, Mark has stated that he tested HIV negative, tests now (2015) are different to the ones pre 2000 and can pick up the Human Immunodeficiency Virus very early. He will also have been asked to give a detailed history and retested if there was any doubt so he is suffering from anxiety and NOT Aids. Best wishes, D.
So I should be ok then right? I had an oral quicktest but that was after about 4 months of feeling bad so is that long enough? Anyway thank you cause at least that clears up this if thats true. Now I just wonder what I do have since I have a lot of symptoms.

If you are HIV NEGATIVE you cannot get AIDS! AIDS is acquired after a person is HIV POSITIVE. Since you are negative, you ought to celebrate!
