Hello, my mum was on sertraline last year but had a depression relapse and was put on the higher 100mg dosage. She could not stand the effects so after a month she decided to come off them. She was then put on mirtazapine. 30mg and has been on them since around sep-October. She has said it helps her sleep at night which is good, however she still has low mood sometimes and says the depression can cause tiredness and she is restricted to do the things she used to. She says that one side of her head has gone weird with the depression. How long do you reckon mirtazapine will take to fully rectify her.
Thanks
Hi jelley, I am on Mitazapine and it does help depression with sleep amd inprovements with eating.. however I did not find much other benefit, however my problem is more anxiety than depression ... so it could reallt help your mum. My psychiatrist said its an excellent med for severe depression and has had great results with it, its also common to use mitazapine alongside another anti depressant to give it a good go at sorting out depression...
It may be a good idea to see if you can add a low dose of something else or up the dose of mirtz to 45mg... and see if that changes things... i personally would try the increase first... my doc couldnt say enough good stuff about the mirtz. Check with the doc about the head thing just in case its the side effect from the mirtz..... good luck xx
Everyone is different. I took Mirtazapine for about a year. It helped a great deal with sleep but the other side effects were not good. Blurred vision, over eating, the combined effects with marijuana, plus I think it made depression worse at times. If your mom could get off of AD it would be very beneficial
