Hi there. Im wanting some advice. I've had these bumps for 2 years now, after I cut myself shaving, they appeared. I have had HPV many years ago in my younger days! and I am worried that they may be back. As I said previously, I have had this for 2 years and they have NOT spread anywhere else. My smear was positive for HPV which makes me think I never got rid of it. I was diagnosed with this 8 years ago, had treatment and it looks like it is back. But it has never spread, could it be something else? I also suffer with Vulvar Dermatitis. I'm embarrassed to ask my doctors.
Hey, Don’t be embarrassed to ask your doctors. It’s their job to give you answers, and they are the only ones able to see you and give you a proper diagnosis. Have you had a bad experience with a doctor that makes you not want to see one?
Anyway, The possibility of a reccurrence of HPV after 8 years of being in the clear is extremely low. However it is possible that you contracted another strain of HPV.
Please never be embarassed to talk to doctors. If it’s been there 2 years and not spreading, it’s probably not serious… it doesn’t look like a wart. At this point it can be anything skin-related. I highly recommend to see a dermatologist just to make sure and rule out anything serious.
