HRT for 21 years😳😳😳

Hi I went through menopause at 29 years old luckily I had my daughter at 27! Yes menopause and the terrible 2's don't mix. Thought I would share a brief summary of why I think I had early menopause.

My husband of 3 years left me with a 6 month old and said couldnt cope with responibility of a child (prick) we never seen him since. Then my daughter was 18 months old she had a routine Investigation of her oesophagus they ruptured it and she nearly died was on life support for a week! Thank god she is healthy and now has 2 children of her own while I was in hospital with her during the 4 months my periods when crazy then nothing never had one since! I have been told by a natopath that my adrenal glands would of gone in overdrive and pushed me into menopause.

Thought I was going crazy we were in UK at the time they kept telling me no cant be menopause I'm too young! Well came to Australia 2 years later another stressful time, and got diagnosed as early menopause! In that 2 years before being diagnosed I lost15 years of bone density because had no eostrogen! So at 29 I had bone density of 42 year old argh! Well went on HRT so 22 years later I'm still on it and I am 51 and have now a bone density of a 51 year old so it caught up!

Hope I haven't bored you with my story and so der if anyone out there went through stress that pushed them into eat menopause?

I do have my concerns at being on it for so long, but I've tried cutting down but it makes me feel awful my quality of life reduces so much! I feel HRT MAKES ME FEEL NORMAL as Long as I get regular checks and good famy history I've been told it's ok

Has anyone out there been on Hrt for this long ? Thanks for listening 😘

Hello Sheza. I went on HRT in 1991 and now just reducing it gradually with a view to stop it. Had no problems at all. So you stick with it if you want to.

Thanks for your reply Marion, I'm on patches 75 mg and have a mirena for progesterone, did you have tablets?

Did you do it really slow? thanks cheryl

I took tablets so it's been quite easy to reduce them slowly. My prescribed dose was 2 tablets once a day so I reduced by half a tablet for a few weeks then down to one and so on. I'm now on half a tablet daily but will eventually reduce to every other day.

Hello Sheza, I've used patches for over 11 years (Estraderm MX 50-100 Although I've recently changed to Dermestril). I'm sorry about your ex-husband and I hope he has paid at least all the expenses related to growing up a child.

I am still a "young" woman and I started HRT very early in life. At the moment I'm considering creating a "cycle" with the patches and natural progesterone. It seems that it's more protective for the cardiovascular system. I have to test/experiment this, however I'm going to do it with bioidentical hormones, so I feel it's ok as long as I stay within average limits. I want to avoid being moody, but I don't think that a stable level of Estrogen and unopposed by any progesterone is a good thing (I think it made me sort of neurotic or emotionally imbalanced), but I have to experiment before being able to say anything. Hormones seem a matter of balance and harmony. Forces that balance each other in a dance, rather than a flat mono-tone smile We will see...
