I'm coming up 50 and am fed up with irregular periods. Went to GP who basically said that I'm now starting going through the change from all the symptoms I've been experiencing. No period for months then 2 in a row never knowing where I am๐๐. GP suggested HRT and we had a chat and she gave me some information to read about HRT and prescribed Norithisterone to take in the meantime until decided whether to take it or not. Would be really interested to hear from anyone else if you've just started to take it and whether you feel any better. GP said my low mood, hot flushes, energy levels, irregular periods would subside, to me it sounds like a WONDER Drug. Would really welcome any comments ๐๐
I haven't recently started HRT but took it from 1991. I'm now reducing it gradually. I was prescribed Hormonin following a hysterectomy where they had to remove both of my ovaries unfortunately. I had menopausal symptoms 3 months following the surgery. It was a lifeline. I had a stressful job and wouldn't have been able to cope without it. I'm almost 62 now and so grateful I was prescribed HRT. For me it was a wonder drug.
Alli, I would suggest, if I may, that you'd get really well informed on HRT. I'm on bioidentical (prescription) HRT by my own choice. You can do a web and video search on Bioidentical HRT.
Norithisterone is not bioidentical so I wouldn't use it.
Take care. Teresa.
PS -Cutest doggie!
Hello Alli
My only suggestion to you is firstly have a blood test to confirm at what point you are at with the start of your menopause. I was on Premia 2.5 and Exfexor simply for HOt flashes, I had no other symptons of mood swings or anything. At 50 I had an ablation because my periods were very heavy. It time 4 mths for me my periods became lighter and then subsided. We all reactive differenty to medication and unfortunately one has to try a few HRT types before it agrees with us. Being 56 my family GPs would just give me an additional pill to add and I know my body..things were happening. Long story short I changed GP's and am now post which is finishing menopause and slowly being wheened off. Sorry to waffle but on but maybe ask to see a Professional..but all I can recommend is get a blood test..the proof is there. My GPS never recommended anything like that with me. Good luck and best Wishes.

Thanks Dianna for taking the time to reply. It's such a confusing time I think. My GP hasn't suggested a blood test but I have heard about this being able to determine where you are, so I'm going to ask for one. The noristerone has worked thankfully but it's only an temporary fix as I seemed to be on one long period. Some of my friends swear by HRT and I have a GP friend who wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!! So will wait to see what the blood test reveals but I think I'm going to try a low dose of HRT and see how things go. I'll keep you posted ๐๐
Thanks Teresa, I think I'm at the point where I've overloaded on info, so have decided to have a blood test and take it from there.

I've heard that too so have decided gonna try a lose dose and see how I get on, I'm coming back as a man next time ๐๐
Yes I can relate to that alli that is why I had an ablation. In easy understanding this is a day procedure in our medical hospital if you have private cover its easier which i do have, but getting to the proceudre is like sealing the uterus to stop the bleeding/period and lightens off. I experience dribbly blood after the procedure for about 6- 8weeks then it all went away and guess what no one could tell me why. Time was my essence. The first HRTmedication I tried was Premia 2.5 Continuous purerly for hot flushes which I was experience around 30 a day, in shorts spurts of 30 seconds, then it started to disturb my sleep patters and was waking in a sweat, so i tried Angeliquie, Koseldia ?? not sure of spelling, stayed on them for a period of 8 weeks at a time, but still no change. I myself googled did some research and came up with Exfexor which helps hot flashes, so I went to my GP and asked and he didnt know, so he checked with his colleague and she said yes. Combined with the Premia 2.5 Continuos and Exfexor 75mg (which is clasified as an Anti Depressant, but is used for other various disorder) so dont be put off by the Classification That really worked wonders for me...It worth discussing with another GP who is not so ardumant. We are all a guinea pig when coming to getting the cocktail of medicin for Menopause, persevere because it will be worth it in the end. Only other problem is ones Libo drops...but nothing a good porn movie cant get one in the mood ;-). Good luck and all the very best.
