I saw my dermatologist yesterday. Nothing's been working for improvement in my advanced HS in my right armpit and right groin. I've been on clindamycin gel and minocycline oral antibiotics, with little to no improvement. I was really in pain yesterday and could barely walk from my car to the doctor's office. The dermatologist administered Kenalog (corticosteroid) injections into my lesions, and within an hour I was nearly pain free. Still feeling great this morning! I know the effect won't last forever, and I don't know how often I can get the injections -- which hurt to have injected, but so worth it. I'm having surgery in 2 months or so to have the lesions and sweat glands removed, and it's good to know I've got a way to manage the discomfort/pain until then. Just thought I'd share.
Where are you getting the procedure done? Could you please keep us updated on how long the effect of kenalog lasts before the lesion resumes? And also, details on the surgical procedure. Thank you.
I will definitely keep you posted on the length of relief from the kenalog injections! I'm in Atlanta, and I'm having the surgery done by a plastic surgeon at Northside Hospital. I've written extensively about my situation and treatments in other posts. I think you can search on my name BethGA to find those posts. If not, let me know, and I'll go over my story again.
Keep us posted on the success of the gland removal
