hi well a while back i found out my boyfriend was postive for hsv 1 cold sores and which i was devastated becasue i tested many time prior before and was always negative for hsv 1 and hsv 2 negative. but during that month of october a week before he got his blood work done he did have 4 of his wisdom tooth pulled out and was on many strong meds so he showed me the tested results which was hsv 1 igg postive with a level of like 40 or less i dont remember and hsv 2 negative and the doctor also did a hsv 1 /2 igm which cane back positive if a low level and the doctor circles hsv1 for igm saying its hsv1 bc he was negative for hsv2 igg t i heard once you have igg postive igm is not decteced anymore due to thats the first response your antibodies produce but i did here that it could be postive due to a reactivation. but idk if igm was positive due to the fact that his immune system was low due to his 4 wisdom tooth was taken out and was on meds and thats why the igm came bsck postive for igm or maybe postive for hsv 2? but it doesnt make sense bc for him to have hsv 2 he would have gotten it from me and i always test negative for hsv 2 and he was in pain so i know he wasnt cheating but i know igm is only accurate for actue infection from 7-10 days but idk im over thinking it but i heard igm could stay postive due to other infections that cross path like chicken pox but he did he he had cold sores before during high school whcih was 3-4 years ago so idk why he still had low level if postive igm ?
