So my girlfriend has HSV-2, currently she is not having any kind of outbreak. However at the moment i am having some cold sore out breaks and im wondering, if i kiss her, would just kissing her possibly trigger her to have an HSV-2 outbreak?
Most (but not all) cold sores are caused by HSV1. If this is true for you, kissing wont trigger an outbreak of her HSV2 but you could pass her your HSV1 so she ends up with cold sores too.
If however your cold sores are also caused by HSV2 (less likely) then she will already have immunity so there’s no problem.
If you don’t know your HSV type I would say don’t kiss her (or go down on her) while you have an active cold sore.
